Our Toolkits and Training

We work with our members and global experts to identify gaps, generate learnings and co-create new training, products and services to share knowledge of ‘what works’ in youth entrepreneurship. This improves the quality of our members’ support services, which in turn improves outcomes for young entrepreneurs.

Social and Green Entrepreneurship Toolkit

Our Social and Green Entrepreneurship Toolkit provides practical tools and guidance to help our members support their young entrepreneurs to build an effective social or green enterprise. The tools span six essential stages of starting a business: personal development and self-knowledge, business and impact ideation, business model, business validation, legal, governance, and finance, and impact measurement and growth. The second iteration of the toolkit was piloted by our members CAP Youth Empowerment Institute (YEI) (Kenya), ideiaLab (Mozambique), Development Solutions Mongolia, Youth Business Caribbean, and Jinishian Memorial Foundation (Armenia) in 2023.

“The support I received through YBI’s Social and Green Entrepreneurship Toolkit has transformed my business by giving me a more in-depth understanding of my value proposition and how I can make a bigger impact on my community.”

Toolkit for Gender Inclusivity

In October, we launched our Toolkit for Gender Inclusivity, a comprehensive resource collaboratively developed with Catalystas Consulting and our members Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST) (India), Bangladesh Youth Enterprise Advice and Helpcentre (BYEAH), MicroLab (Italy), Mebala Youth Studios (Botswana), ETIC (Japan) and Habitat (Turkey).

The toolkit offers practical insights to enhance the gender inclusivity of our members and improve the effectiveness of their programmes.

Training for our members

Throughout the year, we offered a range of free online training opportunities exclusively available for our members.

Highlights included:

Leadership Series for CEOs

Delivered in collaboration with OverTime Leader, this training series for our member CEOs covered topics such as goal setting, receiving feedback, team dynamics and leading change.

Mentoring Programme Managers Series

This training series introduced our members to the YBI Mentoring Standards and gave them an opportunity to self-assess their mentoring programme using our specially designed diagnostic template.

Growth and Performance Skills Training of Trainers

This long-running YBI training series takes participants through YBI’s entrepreneurial soft skills curriculum as well as the ‘behind the scenes’ of running the training and provides all materials members need to deliver it to their young entrepreneurs.

Decent Work Training

Our ongoing Decent Work Training introduces our members to decent work principles, how they are relevant for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and how MSMEs can use these principles to their advantage.

"I can’t express how grateful I am to YBI for this fantastic opportunity to learn and grow as a better leader.”

(Leadership Series for CEOs training)

The contents were simple to understand, and I managed to connect what I learned with my own experience, to see it from a different perspective."
